How does it represent you, and why? How can you make
and distribute your own media? What is media justice?
Jen Soriano from the Youth Media Council;
Hye Jung Park, Director of Manhattan's Youth
Channel; and Thenmozhi Soundararajan of Third
World Majority will explore with participants how
youth are represented, how to monitor and influence
coverage, and strategies for alternative media distribution

a forum on media literacy and youth leadership

Free and open to the public
This
unique session brings together media and community activists,
youth organizers, and educators to hear youth leaders
speak out about the ways their communities and issues
are represented in the media. Then participate in a
Youth Media Literacy Workshop led by Temple University's
Renee Hobbs, or a Curriculum Exchange for Educators
for those currently teaching or interested in teaching
media literacy in their classes or community programs.
Co-sponsored by the Media Education Lab at Temple
University.
This
will be followed by more screenings at the Prince, including
the Youth Media Slam at 8pm.
