FEATURED EVENT

Media Tank invites you to join us for...

The Media ReMix
featuring Mike Bonanno of THE YES MEN

Friday Sep 30 * 8PM - 12AM * Painted Bride * 230 Vine St. Free (Donations Welcome!) * Reserve Tickets: 215-925-9914

In conjunction with the NAMAC conference (see below) Media Tank is hosting The Media ReMix featuring a live performance, video mixing and a film curators slam!

Mike Bonanno of The Yes Men will explain the bizarre circumstances by which their website was confused with that of the World Trade Organization and how that resulted in invitations to speak at global trade summits, which they accepted. The storytelling will be enhanced with multi-media including projected images, music, and video, as well as theatrical props. This Yes Men roadshow features uproarious unreleased footage from their adventures.

Throughout the evening, internationally known DJ/VJ Art Jones will perform a live audio-visual mix with sampled news and commercial footage, text and original digital video and animation accompanied by an experimental dub, hip-hop and electronic noise mix. Working with laptops and analog audio/video sources, he will create an abstract narrative collage on the walls of the cafˇ at the Bride.

The Curator's Slam will close out the evening at 10 pm as local film programmers throw down shorts programs interpreting the conference themes of Freedom, Creativity and Risk.

More about Mike Bonanno and The Yes Men

Prior to that, he dabbled in other kinds of creative political mischief, such as creating the Barbie Liberation Organization, which has been featured in news media around the world. In his day job, he teaches art at a university in upstate New York.
