New City Community
Press is grounded in the belief that writing is
an implicit organizing tool that can produce social change.
We imagine writing as an act that can project us beyond
the parameters of individual selfhood into the body politic.
To that end, New City works with communities struggling
to gain cultural and political representation, aiding them
in recording and distributing their stories to the larger
public.

Bitch: Feminist Response to Pop
Culture publishes incisive commentary and analysis
of TV, film, advertising, music, books, and magazines, while
also spotlighting feminist pop culture-makers. Bitch strips
away the gloss, the kitsch, and the consumerism that threatens
to mask the social importance of feminism, downplay it as
just another marketable trend, and dismiss its relevance
altogether.
